Industry: Food and Drink.

Challenge
DAF sludge produced on site from Effluent Treatment Plant was a significant operational expense. Water Tecnik were able to evaluate and provide a solution.
Solution
Following the completion of trials & chemical jar tests, Water Tecnik proposed a containerised dewatering system, to process the DAF sludge produced on site. The cake is transferred to a 12 ton Roll on, Roll off skip. This removes the entire wet sludge waste stream reducing haulage costs by approximately 75%.
Water Tecnik Supplied & Installed a Containerised Water Tecnik Disc Screw Press (WTDS-201).
Results
Return on the capital investment was 11 months. The company are currently exploring options to potentially sell the dried cake, as its calorific content is suitable for use in anaerobic digestors. This will then potentially generate an income from their waste stream, for what was historically a significant cost for the site.
